When I do the computer colouring thing I like to keep it nice and simple. Kind of like gouache. Sometimes I do gradients, but they're always very subtle. I really should put more of my computer stuff on here because so far it has been a lot of markers...
Speaking of markers, today I went out and bought a bunch in the craziest colours possible. I like markers because they force you to commit to your colouring since you only have a few to choose from. So I'll be doing more markery things soon! It's kind of like an addiction I think...
Oh yeah and last thing, as you may have noticed I have added a handy-dandy slideshow gallery to the right side of my blog. It's feeding from my Flicker photostream, so if you click it you'll be directed there. I plan to use this blog for only new art, but soon I'm going to put some of my props and character work from shows I've worked on. Go check it out!
Your profile says your a freelance illustrator. Are you using this site as your portfolio? I hope not. I don't think ADs care that you like purple veggies and that you have drawings for you boyfriend. Total Mulan rip off by the way.
ReplyDeleteYou're obviously heavily influenced by Disney but it also shows a lack of creativity. You like Dave Pimentel work. That's great but you shouldn't rip-of him off. That's not cool.
You're obviously still a student and have much to learn.
Actually no, this is not my online portfolio. This is just a place for me to put miscellaneous drawings/thoughts up whenever I get the chance, which is why it's in the Blog format. I do this for fun. I'm surprised that you show such concern for a complete stranger such as myself...
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I am a student. Have been since the day I was born. Those who snub learning just because they have graduated college miss out on a lot. As my former college teacher used to say, "Learning is Earning"!
So if you have some real criticism other than just telling me I rip people off, do tell. And maybe you could link to your own work instead of hiding behind a blocked profile when making comments.
